Grace, Meagan, Jessica and Marcus Fortney of St. George, Utah, decided to all get married in a joint wedding ceremony on June 14. Each couple’s ceremony lasted 30 minutes at the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and then the eight newlyweds shared a 1,000-guest reception at a ballroom.
While it worked out perfectly that they were all engaged at the same time, a tragedy made the Fortney siblings want to be as close as possible in life, since their fifth sibling, Casey, passed away last year.
“We took the girls individually and picked out their wedding dresses,” their mother, Marie Fortney, told Yahoo. “We did not know any of our children’s in-laws very well, so we called each of them right off and took them out to dinner and got acquainted with them and explained that we wanted each family to have the wedding for their son or daughter that they wanted. We wanted to make it a happy time for everyone involved.”
