The Financial Aspects Of Wedding Planning

A common complaint from couples planning a wedding is how much everything costs. It is entirely understandable that this should be the case as many of the things that one buys for a wedding are available at a much lower price until such time as you include the word wedding. Once this word is mentioned, the price climbs steeply.  Because a couple getting married will spend more because this is to be their only wedding in a lifetime, people very cynically expect them to pay higher, and in many cases absurd, prices.

One example of this would surely be the cake. Although intricate, a wedding cake does not really contain any ingredients which justify the price many bakers place on it. In fact, if the cake was sculpted out of roast pheasant, iced with caviar and topped with platinum likenesses of the bride and groom, it would still struggle to justify the price that some people end up paying. A wedding dress or suit, too, will magically triple in price the moment the possibility that it will be worn to a ceremony arises.

This is why it is important to be hard-nosed in negotiations in the run-up to your wedding. You should not be expected to spend so much, given that you are making plans for a life together. This is money which would be better spent on household necessities. Of course a bit of pageantry is fine,  but don't let yourself be taken advantage of just because you are planning a special day.

How to Plan for a Big Wedding

A big wedding needs equally big plans. You will need to take certain things into consideration and plan accordingly. It will also be necessary to have a good-sized budget to be able to pull off a wedding like this with style and elegance. There are several good Wedding Planner Books on the market to help you with this task.

First, your venue must be booked well in advance of your wedding date. This will be because with a large number of guests, you will need a larger hall.  You will not have the flexibility of accommodating the crowd in a smaller venue which could be limiting.  A barn or ranch wedding is often a good alternative because they often can fit a large number of guests and can cost a bit less than a traditional formal ballroom. You can serve your reception dinner buffet or family style to keep costs down also.

When you are inviting a lot of people to your wedding be prepared for no shows and try to send out invitations early.  It's a good idea to send out Save the Date Announcements to let your guests know ahead of time to keep the date for your marriage celebration.

Make sure that you have enough money to do this right. Create a strict Wedding Budget and stick to it. There is nothing worse than running out of money before all the details have been arranged - especially with an event of large magnitude. It is even more embarrassing to be leaving your family, or your fiance's family with large debts due to having overextended yourself in the marriage.

You may want to make a theme for this style of wedding. It is important to have everything coordinating when you create the decor. This requires good planning and attention to details. You will need to be sure that this looks tasteful and the colors you choose will look nice on you and your bridesmaids. You will also have to be sure that your theme is not too out of the ordinary and will still maintain the formal look of your wedding.

There are many things to be thought of and planned when you decide to marry in style. These few points will help you to get started. Marrying in style is a challenge but you will make quite a splash socially!
